Mysteries of Life Introduction
As a kid I was brought up in the Catholic Church. I thought it was a good thing for society to have religious standards but then I realized I have my own natural, inherent moral code inside of me.
Some parts of the Bible contradict each other like the jealous God of the Old Testament who suddenly saw the wrong of His ways and became loving in the New Testament which is kinda funny if God is divinely wise.
There are many rules in the Old Testament condemning people to death for trivial transgressions. They accepted slavery as a part of normal life in the Old Testament.
Who did Cain and Abel marry if they were the children of the first man and woman on Earth?
On the Vision Channel in Canada, I was watching a Hindu music video where they were all dancing and praising a statue that looked like Mary and the baby Jesus. They looked foolish but what they were doing was no different than what Christians do.
I live by the spirit I feel inside of me. If God exists, He gave me my free essence as a human being. The best I can do is to honor it.
Many of us spend a lot of time and energy pondering questions that we will never know the answers to in this lifetime, particularly:
Where do we come from?
Is there life after Death? If so, where?
I think I figured it out. I will give you my version of the answers here in this book. In any event, you are the master of this life right here, right now. Thats all anyone knows for sure, this life on Earth in the physical realm.
When I was a kid, they taught me to be a good, little Catholic boy. I was as brainwashed as anyone could be about religion but I gradually realized it was a crutch and a tool of oppression which doesnt make it bad in and of itself. It just means that a lot of people use religion as a tool to control others through guilt, to gain trust, sexual favours, political power, etc.
Aside from that, even if there is no God, religion serves a variety of pragmatic purposes. It gives us hope, comfort, inspiration and bonds us as communities and societies. It keeps some people on the straight and narrow path and sometimes stops evil people from doing evil things who otherwise wouldnt think twice about hurting other people.
We are all born with an inherent morality. We intuitively know whats right and wrong but oftentimes choose to disregard our consciences in order to satisfy our self-centered desires.
For some people, a censoring entity like religion helps to keep them from acting on their dark sides more than they do now.
There could be something after death based on my experiences with mind-altering substances that seemed to lead me to some otherworldly state of mind beyond me which I covered in my recreational drugs book.
If there really was a God, it would be logical to assume that He would intervene to help when He saw His people in great pain and suffering which happens everyday not to mention some great acts of evil throughout history like the Nazi Holocaust but why wasnt God there to help?
Jesus is similar to all the man-gods before him in other cultures for anyone not to conclude that our concept of our Christian God has at least an even chance of being a figment of someones fictional writings.
The bottom line is that nobody can prove there is a God and nobody can prove there isnt so I deal with my life right here, right now. I will deal with God when I die if in fact hes there or maybe the devil in hell since I seem to be so irreverent in bowing down to this phantom in the sky.
In any event, I use God as a literary device by default in describing my soul or essence as a human being since if there is anything divine about me this is it.
In the Book of Genesis, they say God breathed into Adam to give him life, implying that He shot some divine, mystical spark into him that made him come alive.
This is the great mystery of life; what exactly gives us this esthetic-spiritual consciousness known as life. It goes beyond just chemical formulas and biological theories. I feel this unique essence, spirit or soul within me. If there is anything divine about me, this is it, this invisible essence that is me.
If God created me, I owe it to Him to be the best specimen I can be to honor this piece of handiwork He made me to be. Thats the way I think just to keep my life simple and to feel connected to whatever is divine in the Universe, if anything.
The best I can do is believe in my soul because if theres anything divine about me, this is it. Beyond that, I dont want to believe in anything written or created by other people, even if it is supposedly divinely inspired.
Thats my code and thats the way of life Im trying to pass on through my books. I believe that organized religion, psychobabble (the so-called science of human behaviour), pop culture entertainment, the capitalist ideology and all that New Age mumbo jumbo where people are worshipping just about anything out there destroy a great many lives because a lot of empty, weak people give up control of their lives to some external deity or so-called authority in order to get some hope, comfort, love, inspiration or whatever it is theyre looking for but this goes against everything free spiritism stands for.
What I believe about God, human nature and the purpose of life is all tied together in this intuitive, instinctive feeling I have about living by my soul, trusting it and honoring it because if there is anything divine in the Universe that Im sure of, its my soul or essence as a human being.

How Aging Changed My View on God
Life is what you make of it day by day. There could be a God or there might not be. Nobody really knows. Some people think they have supernatural encounters. Ive had experiences that could be called supernatural but they also could be random chance.
I escaped death several times. Was that random luck or God watching out for me?
Now that Ive had a cataract and watched my mother get Alzheimer's, Im more religious than ever. Im not the atheist I used to be. Religion makes me feel good. Thats why Im starting to get into it.
Ive gone to the local Catholic Church to see a few of the concerts. I watch tbn.org and religious shows on TV.
I know about the near-death-experience.
I believe as you age, you start to believe in God more. It makes sense. I want there to be a heaven after I die.
When I lay in bed at night, I ask God to give me power.
Somebody said there is no atheist in a foxhole. Its true. Notice all those death-row inmates converting to God.
I accept my human weaknesses. Its easier and more peaceful for me to believe in God than to be an atheist.
I still dont have rose-colored glasses on about people. Thats probably because Ive been used, exploited and betrayed by lots of them, even those claiming to love me. I have a dim view of the human race. If somebody tells me theyre religious, it doesnt mean anything to me. Ive seen seemingly good people go evil on a dime when somebody angers them. I love animals for their innocence. Thats the purest love.
I was reading some stuff by a guy by the name of Alex Collier. He said the love that you withhold will haunt you forever. Thats the greatest dignity. Show love. Be loving even if we live in a horrible world. There is still beauty in it.
